Is Love Blind?

Being a wedding photographer, I often get asked about my love story, when couples hear that I’m a born and raised Minnesotan and my husband is from Colorado. I dated my husband before we ever met in person AND before we ever saw each other. I've heard there is a show on Netflix that is doing a social experiment on people falling in love, without ever seeing each other lol. Has anyone seen it or heard of it?

We both didn't trust random people on the internet, yet we were told to work together, by our online college coaches. Our first chat went something like this, “I'm Amy. I’m supposed to reach out to you, because you've done a lot of research on the degree I'm researching, BUT I want to let you know I don't trust guys on the internet." His response, "Hi, I don't trust you either, so no worries there.”

Our common interest would turn into conversations that we both looked forward to so much and then, turn into me taking his last name. It's been ten years, but I still get butterflies when I see Caleb’s name appear in my inbox.

I would've NEVER dreamt of meeting my husband online, but I'm thankful I'm not the one in control of the bigger picture. I thank God daily for making a way for Caleb and I to meet, even though we lived in completely different states.

So do I think love is blind? No, because love is far deeper than mutual attraction. Love isn't an emotion...it's a choice. If you met in person or some other way, it doesn't really matter. What we choose to put our focus and energy into is what will blossom.

If you focus on looks or status, you're going to be disappointed when life happens. I know Caleb loves me no matter what and still will when I'm old and grey, because he fell in love with who I am and puts his focus there. I adore who he is and find him more and more attractive every day...his looks are just a bonus.

Caleb is my best friend. We LOVE just hanging out and talking/dreaming together. We treat every time we get to spend alone together like a date, especially since we didn't go on a date in person, before we got engaged. We could be scooping manure together and it’s a date! True love is what lasts through the thick and thin and that’s what I want for our marriage, how about you!?
